Purdue University’s online Master of Science in Communication has been named the #1 best online master’s in communication program by mastersincommunication.org in their 2023 rankings. The program, hosted in Purdue’s Brian Lamb School of Communication, was recognized for its experienced faculty, its relevant concentrations, and its high-quality curriculum.
To create its rankings, mastersincommunication.org looked at online communication programs across the country and compared them based on factors like cost, reputation, and program features. They then released a list of the top 10 online communication programs based on those criteria. Purdue’s online MS in Communication topped the list, ahead of programs at the University of Southern California, Johns Hopkins, and more.
“Though there are many excellent graduate programs in communication across the country, Purdue has consistently provided one of the strongest value propositions for students,” said Bart Collins, director of graduate studies in the Brian Lamb School. “Our program attracts students from all over the United States and the world.”
In their justification for the #1 ranking, mastersincommunication.org listed several highlights of Purdue’s program, including the convenient online format and the fact that applicants don’t need a GRE score to apply. They also listed the program’s concentration options as another highlight.
The online Master of Science in Communication allows students to choose from concentrations in Strategic Communication/Public Relations, Branding and Marketing Communication, Management Communication and Leadership, and Health Communication, or to customize their program with course work from several concentrations. The program also offers graduate certificates in Strategic Communicaton Management and Communication and Leadership.
“Our communication program is not a one-size fits all program,” said Collins. “It places emphasis on building tailored plans of study that are specifically designed to help students meet their unique professional goals.”
