Startup Discovery Entrepreneur Workshop

Do you have a business idea you’d like to pursue? Are you wondering if you have what it takes to become an entrepreneur and start your own business? If so, check out the Startup Discovery Entrepreneur Workshop with Purdue University Online. This workshop course focuses on the Lean Canvas model and is designed and led by John McDonald and Tom Kilcoyne, Managing Entrepreneurs at Next Studios, a venture startup studio based in Indiana. They will be hosting interactive sessions where the learner can discuss the content and their progress. 

Upon completion of the Startup Discovery Entrepreneur Workshop, you will have a fully-complete business model that has helped launch countless new startup companies. The course takes you through this process at your own pace with each module broken down by topic and exercise. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet with the instructors several times during the course, and with your fellow entrepreneurs, to discuss your business plan, ask questions, and get insider expertise and coaching.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Translate a business idea into the Lean Canvas model.
  • Articulate your solution stack and unique value proposition to a customer problem.
  • Use the Customer Forces Model to identify how you will attract customers to your solution.
  • Use customer input to evaluate your assumptions and conclusions.

The workshop is divided into 3 parts each have 6 modules. After Parts 1 & 2, the learner will be asked to conduct customer interviews based on the material covered. While the content of the course is open for the learner to complete at their own pace, the course is designed to be taken a week at a time. 

Expect approximately 6 hours each week to view all the content, complete the assignments, and prepare for the interactive sessions. Also, be prepared to spend time interviewing potential customers during the customer interview weeks.
